i'm selling my PC gaming stuff

Postby HangOver on Mon Apr 25, 2016 2:23 pm

i know only a few of us still check here regularly but if any of you (or people you know) are in the market for some PC parts let me know what you want and i'll post up what i'm selling.

do you think it makes more sense to part it out or should i try to sell it as a full gaming PC?

You can always try to list it as a whole rig first and if there's no bites, part it out. I would imagine that parting it out would be best but then again you never know when there's someone looking for a deal on a whole rig so it might be worth trying to sell it whole first.

I'm needing a 2TB or more hard drive right about now. What kind of GPU you have?

here's a quick breakdown:

the gaming rig is:

Lian Li PC-7B Case
Cooler Master Silent Pro 700W PSU
Asus m4n98td EVO Motherboard
AMD Phenom II x4 955 3.0GHz Quad-Core Proc
ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
16GB GSKILL Ripjaws DDR3 RAM (4x4GB)
MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB DX12 Ready
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD
2x 500GB Western Digital 7200rpm HDD
PCI-E USB 3.0 Expansion card (new in box)
Logitech G502 Gaming Mouse
Logitech Gamepad F310
Logitech G930 Wireless Gaming Headset

it's not bleeding edge but with that 970 it handles everything at max pretty well. i'm gonna put it on ebay tomorrow night (so it ends on sunday evening). if it doesn't sell i'll part it out. if you want more info let me know. i'm hoping to get at least 700 for it (all said it's probably about 1300 or so in parts [new], even with the outdated ones). if no one wants it all, get your offers in the parts for when i part it out and i'll give you dibs.

i also have a few miscellaneous parts:

> evga gtx 570 (1280MB mem)
> 2x evga 8800GTS with the sli bridge thingy

i've also already listed some stuff on ebay. if you guys wanna take a look it's here:
http://www.ebay.com/usr/buckrussell0

if you REALLY want something, make me an offer and if it's good i'll cancel the auction for it. although i'm not sure if i can cancel an auction once it has bids. it's been a while since i used ebay. and if you just want to help me out by driving up the bids, that's cool too :) if you win and don't want it, i won't charge ya.

also, since i now have plex running well on my xbox, i'm probably gonna sell off my htpc at some point. it's no powerhouse but for an htpc it's great.

yeah, i'm cleaning house :)

pulling out. for now.

i fully intend to build another one some day but between my kids and my business there's just no time for it.

in case anyone is interested in my current situation, my brother and his wife and i have struck out on our own to start our own indie game studio. the original plan was to use unity but we decided it would be smarter to learn how to code for android and iOS individually first. so my brother's wife is doing the android stuff, i'm doing the iOS stuff and my brother is doing the blender stuff (3d modeling). we're making progress. nothing on the app stores yet but that's because we're perfectionists and fighting feature creep. the first game i'm working on for iOS is kind of a throwback 2d side-scroller/shooter. no clue if this business will be successful but we have to try :)

full disclosure... i'm a mac user now. heh.

had it up for 3 days as a full rig and only had 14 views and no watchers. didn't want to take a chance at someone sniping it for the minimum ($450 starting bid) since the vid card alone is worth almost $300. gonna part it out now and see what happens.

how much you want for the SSD? I might want to pick it up if I can spare the cash.

i found out today that the motherboard, proc and ram that i have in my file server are actually a bit better than the ones in my gaming rig lol. i had no clue. so i've decided to do some parts shuffling and see what happens. when the dust settles i'll update this thread with what's back on the market :)

i ended up keeping my gaming rig. just shuffled some parts :) kind of pointless since i hardly play anything these days but still, it just felt too weird contemplating a future (even if only temporary) of NOT having my trusty ol' gaming PC in the house.

believe me, if i didn't NEED to use a mac to program for iOS, i wouldn't be using one :) there are ways around it but this was the quickest/easiest/cheapest way (mac mini).
