the jeep ride...audio sukkas look here

Postby BALDheadedGRL on Fri Mar 12, 2004 8:52 pm

ohh the jeep is nice..
but the infinity gold system is doo doo...
looking into a new system
i know ive seen some posts on car audio befor but i want mine custom tailored hehe
here are my options

dash
2.5
3.5 if i dremmel
or could just put tweets in with a mounting plate

front door:
6x9
or
6.5/6.75 with adapter plate

rear door
6.5/6.75 coaxial
no place for tweeter unless i custom install it somwhere

sub
JL Audio Stealth box
JL sub dont know what model

amp
looking for decent watage x4 channels
and able to be moutned under rear seat
would be a bonus if it had x4 + 250x1 or so for the sub

this being an infinity gold system and the lack of quality has put a bad taste of infinity in my mouth...

any suggestions would be great

I don't care if it's called Infinity "Suck your nuts and give all your friends hummers" System... it's OEM so don;t expect the world.

As for gear, too many options to choose from. JL stealthbox = expensive but if you have no desire to do your own work then those will work or an MTX Thunderform box will pound as well.

For what series of JL.. wattage matters. For 250 look into a single 10W-3 or 12W-3.

http://www.acoustic-visions.com has some of the best sounding midranges (Adire Kodas) and VIFA tweeters for sale. I've owned MB Quart and Focal PolyKevlar and these things work them for a fraction of the price.

I'll have to check amps when I get home.

This is what I have....2 polk momo 15"s, powered by a mtx 942 (470 watts x 2). For mids and highs I have 4" and 5 1/4" infinity kappas, powered by a infinity 404 (70 watts x 4) and for my deck I have a Alipine APN CDA9813 cd/mp3 player. All this is wired with 4 gauge monster cable wire. The boxes for the subs I made my self out of mdf (sorry I dont know how to use fiber glass like rope)

hehe...nice set up...i had kappas in my old jetta, they were really nice, but i want to try something different...i do like my home polks so thats why im leanin that way....although if i want components on the back door id have to custom fit a tweeter probly on the door handle area....but im not sure how capable i am of doing so

I personally dont like polks for highs and mids... I think they sound wierd. I like infinity, pioneer and alpine. Thoes are the brands that i liked when i was installing at circuit city.
