increasing the debt ceiling is retarded. if our incompetent government could learn how to SPEND responsibly there would be no NEED to raise the debt ceiling OR raise taxes. they are so fucking retarded it actually causes me discomfort.

I'm all for raising the limit so they can keep their pork programs and feed themselves massive amounts of cash meanwhile raping us and ruining the country. I think it's a great idea. I mean why focus on all the shit they do wrong? Just throw a rug over it and keep it up right?

ok so that was sarcasm, The entire situation bugs me so much I don't even want to know anymore because I don't trust either side. What bugs me most is we only have 2 parties to really choose from and they're both fucked up.

You know who I wanna vote for? Me. I wanna be president, i think I could do a better job, just vote me in and i'll handle it :P

Well here's the thing it's not much of a limit if it keeps getting raised. At that point WTF is the point of having it. It obviously does not deter congress from spending more. If anyone is actually following it in the 'news' I think it speaks volumes of the Democrat/liberal propaganda machine. They actually have popular opinion stacked AGAINST the Republicans who are trying to tie debt limit increases to a balanced budge mandate. So let me get this straight. The liberals want to raise the debt limit, continue to increase the budget deficit, AND not actually put any bills on the table, but its the Republicans who are being obstructionists.

It truly boggles the mind how many people find the intelligence to breathe daily (of course we have the left to thank for that for getting rid of natural selection), or scary how savvy the left is at manipulating public opinion.

BTW the poll I'm referring to found that 72% of Americans will blame the Republicans if a bill doesn't get passed in time to 'avoid default.' Me? hell I say fuck it, if nothing gets passed, they can't keep spending shit they don't have. Of course I have to wonder at what point my paycheck is ACTUALLY in danger not just threatened by left wing Obama scare tactics.

and a few years ago the roles were reversed on the exact same issue. the problem isn't a democrat or republican one. it's our entire system. people will still pine on and fucking on about the beauty of the 2-party system. it's bullshit. the 2 party system has destroyed this country (in conjunction with many other factors). as i've said many times, they do not give a shit about what's best for the country, only what's best for their chance at re-election.

and the ultimate irony is, our politicians are owned by corporations and yet there is nothing corporate about their "jobs". if any executive at a company was such an abysmal failure at their job, they would be fired. but nope. our politicians are criminally corrupt and routinely fail miserably at their jobs and there are no repercussions. their pay and chances at re-election should 100% be tied to their job performance.

Heh, well Hang that goes right back to what I have said for years, and posted a couple times here in our forums, I think their wages should work like a commission, meaning if the country shows financial improvement or gain (ie. profit) they get paid well for doing a good job, if the debt increases, money is wasted, then they get squat. I guarantee you they'd start making smarter decisions almost instantly if they knew their paychecks depended on actually doing a good job.

I mean no offense to anyone in this next statement, but I think it is ridiculous how many people get hung up on what the 'left' or 'right' thinks and does, those guys all shakes hands with each other and do business together every day, the agendas on both sides of the table are not in our best interests and corruption, ineptitude, and failure run rampant all through both parties. We the people spend more time bickering and arguing over the Dems vs Reps like a bunch of rednecks argue over Ford vs Chevy, meanwhile Ford and Chevy are both selling trucks left and right, many times the consumer buying for no other reason than to support the company he is a fan of, not because the one he buys is actually any better than the other. Voters do the same stupid thing, I know not all of them, and I am not speaking about the handful of people that actually take the time to think things out, I mean the mass majority that go to the polls and just vote for the guy that is running in the party they like. It pretty sad really, so many people just follow so blindly all the propaganda from their respective party and automatically attack the other, reject anything it suggests or does as if somehow it must be wrong. For 8 years we had a Republican running our country and economy into the dirt, now a Democrat is running things, nothing is any better, but somehow now it's their fault.

The truth? They are all retarded, and have their own agendas to better serve their own interests, both parties are guilty, but if we the people just keep blaming one or the other, they can just keep going on doing what they do while we fight argue over whose fault it is. They just shuffle some new faces in and out every few years to give us someone new to point fingers at while in the background it's business as usual in the White House and Capitol.

What we really, really need in this country is WE THE PEOPLE to stand up and put a stop to this crap, the people of this country 150 years ago wouldn't sit back and let this happen, they got off their asses and made a difference, we just sit back and catch the next show on the boob tube and life goes on.

Now if you'll excuse me, my show is on so I don't have time for politics or I'll miss the season finale.......(/sarcasm...cuz I don't actually watch TV)

We are at an all time high in spending, and a 70-year low in taxes. To assert that this is only a spending problem, not a revenue problem, is absurd. Why should grandma have to take a hit on her social security before some corporation loses their special corporate jet tax loophole?

Republicans seem to forget how we got so deep in this mess. Never in our history have we ever cut taxes during wartime, like Bush and his conservatives friends did when he was president. Not one dollar has ever been found to pay for either the wars or the tax cuts, which are still being paid for by the deficit. http://www.politifact.com/new-jersey/st ... history-u/

Surprise, I disagree with Tai. It is completely disingenuous to say democrats want to increase the budget deficit. You may not have noticed, but it is Obama who is pushing for $4 trillion deficit decrease, and republicans who want something much smaller. (Not that I think that is a smart thing at 9% unemployment.) And of course liberals want to raise the debt limit, just as conservatives wanted to increase the debt limit 3 years ago when Bush was president. The party out of power always bitches about the debt.

The math doesn't even work to do only spending cuts or only tax increases, but republicans just don't care. And "Liberal propaganda machine", Haha! You think they could organize something like that? You give them WAY too much credit. Republicans do it to themselves. 80% of the country agrees that deficit reduction should be a mix of taxes and spending cuts, including the majority of conservatives, and republicans still refuse to budge an inch. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter ... vor-both-/

If only 72% of the country would blame the republicans if the debt ceiling doesn't get lifted, who are these other 8% who think deficit reduction should be a mix of spending cuts and taxes, and still don't blame them?

if our inept government would simply learn how to spend money like responsible adults we wouldn't need a higher debt ceiling or higher taxes. they could actually LOWER taxes substantially and still see a "revenue" increase simply because they wouldn't be senselessly pissing away our money.

they talk about lowering spending but they don't mean spending less for the things they buy they mean buying less. that's not the answer and every time in the past they have "cut spending" it's only temporary and in a few years they're right back to being retarded once the short attention spanned dip shit american populace forgets all about it.

There is a lot that needs to be done. My opinion is seriously cut spending (and by that i mean entitlements), lower the business taxes, tax the rich income, luxury, whatever ( i really could care less about this, except that the government seems to have a skewed perspective of what rich is). Start hammering out some reforms (we need a lot of them). I say go ahead and raise the debt ceiling for now if we have to, only if there is some commitment to getting the spending and budget under control. However, when i wake up from this fantasy land everyone still too busy playing fuck fuck, and too worried about their own asses to do anything substantial.

your tax rates are RETARDED low compared to the rest of the free world. your revenue doesnt even come close to covering your expenditure. you people need to get used to to the fact that you need to tax people and stop trying to win elections with tax breaks.

also your spending is crazy too, especially on military and the wars, but regardless, i cant believe how stubborn the citizens and the government are when it comes to proper levels of taxation.

And im saying this as a fiscal conservative. I STRONGLY believe in low taxes, low socialism, and BALANCED budgets. unfortunately that 3rd one does require some reasonable level of taxation, and doesnt involve giving tax breaks to the richest industries and companies....as if exxon would suddenly go do business elsewhere or something...lol

umm, are you talking about personal tax or corporate tax. I'm talking about corporate tax where we are the highest in the "free world" at 39.3 percent second only to Japan at 39.5 percent, and that's only at the federal level. Then add on the state taxes which range anywhere for 6 to 12 percent. That's a tax rate of almost 50 percent across the board for any corporation. Have you seen our unemployment rates? I wonder what we could do to fix that....
