Food for thought.

What's even worse is that he says the American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. Of course, at this point, I'm not even sure that's true. We have enough lazy shits in this country to recognize socialism for what it is: A free ride on the back of honest wage earners.

...OH HO HO HO. All you liberals were about to SNOPES me weren't you(I hope I got at least one of you snoping it before even finishing the post)!!! Haha, being a fair minded individual of course I did my research. The above quotes never really happened. This just happens to be an email some right wingers are forwarding around. As it turns out, Snopes says it is probably false. However, I find it disturbing, that if you read the Snopes article you will find that Upton Sinclair actually wrote TO the above mentioned individual and he said things that are nearly as damning.

DOH!! Backfire.

The quote was "The american people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But,m under the name of 'liberalism, 'they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.' He went on to say: 'I no longer need to run as a presidential candidate for the Socialist Party. the Democrat Party has adopted our platform.

Toon. The gap is getting bigger, and more and more people are looking for handouts. At the same time, less and less people are actually trying to take care of themselves. I haven't researched it at all, but I would like to know what welfare numbers look like. Has it been a steady climb since it's inception? Has it EVER gone down? Steep climb? Stayed the same? More people are asking for government help(and in some cases not even asking for it but being forced to take it) in every aspect of their lives. People don't need a government for very many things. Left to our own devices, most of us will get by and even thrive. A government should supplement that not take it over.

isn't welfare just a bandaid. it''s put there so nobody has to actually do anything about the dirt ass poor people
but everyone can feel like they did something?

if it was to become a scoialist coutry it would just speed things up
government money to --> corporations

instead of having to pass through our hands...

I don't know if anyone knows who in particular you were talking too, or what specifically you were talking about when you asked.
