LAN...sigh.

Postby Khemikal on Fri Jul 06, 2007 11:29 am

Before I say anything negative, I'd like to touch on the positives.
Rope - Thank you for the servers!
Ryan - Thanks for being a cook, for the pr0n, and trying to help with the switches!
Everyone who traveled - Thank you for taking the time to come to the LAN. I hope you enjoyed it.
The LANs of the last two years have also allowed me to spend a little time with some of the wickednet members I don't know as well...Surf, Kuhz, Lexx, etc. (I know I'm forgetting one of you bastards and I apologize). For some reason, Lexx in the past has also been on the fence for me, regarding whether I liked him or not. Don't know why, so my apologies. The last two LANs I've been able to sit near him and talk just a second or two here and there and I think he's an absolutely great guy...same goes for the young guns...although anyone who calls their pr0n "erotica" is a fag *cough*Surf*cough* =)
Audy/Tibs - These guys are going to Heaven one day as they are ALWAYS helping clean up at the LANs and keep others out of trouble even though it costs them their own time.

[bitch]I think that next year it would be best if someone else hosted the LAN. I like to think that for the last 2 years, I've been able to pull from my pool of resources and friends two of the nicer places we've ever had a LAN at. I certainly don't believe anyone can say they went hungry! I'd specifically like to thank you all for keeping the Mansion safe last year and doing a pretty good job this year. The problem is, it was only a pretty good job...and not an excellent job. A brief breakdown of the issues...
1) I asked people to take trash around the building and not out the backdoor. Someone unlocked the backdoor on the GE side to get to the dumpster which got GE pissed off which could have cost my partner a lease that runs into the hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. I blamed this on some workmen.
2) Liquor - I don't drink and very rarely have a problem with people that do. However someone spilled a bottle of liquor in the freezer and did not clean it up. Not cool.
3) Out of control - This ties in with alcohol. It's a shame when the young guns are more responsible than the people I consider adults.

The fallout from the above?
1) Facility: Not certain I'll be able to use it again in the future...having free facilities allows me to spend all the money on food which is why the last two LANs no one should have gone hungry or had to come out of pocket for much.
2) Liquor: Any LAN in the future I host, will unfortunately feature no liquor and possible no alcohol at all...I haven't decided yet.
3) Out of control: Quite honestly, some of you aren't welcome back to any LAN I host. It's not personal, but your inability to exercise the slightest bit of control over yourself cost me my time in enjoying the LAN, cost others even more time who felt obligated to watch you instead of enjoying themselves, risked property that wasn't yours, and risked the level of trust my partners had in me.
[/bitch]

Once again, for the rest of you, I appreciate you taking the time to come, as always it is good to see everyone and I'm glad you made it home safely. Thank you for the first timers...Cane and Czur. Hopefully next year will be bigger!

Kevin

I had an awful lot of fun, and appreciated everyone not anally raping me in my sleep and respecting me, even though I KNOW I've pissed a lot of you off in the past. Kevin especially, Hang, etc.

I know I can be an asshole, but I like to think I've changed since I've pissed some of you off (Minus Hang, that was recent, but we made amends <3).

I wish I could have stayed around to help clean, and I truly wanted to go the lunch even if it was 10 people, but unfortunately my commander left me a message early Sunday morning which required my attention since the person that was taking my command had to go to the hospital and my Firesquad was pretty much having to Christmas Tree certain level of events.

It's sad that some of us couldn't respect the simple rules that were given, especially the one all of us know...Clean up after yourself. When I left, I made sure that my part of the desk was clean, my area around me was clean, and that where my bed was situated was clean minus the fiberglass dust (Yes, I fell asleep near all of the fiberglass damnit!)

Sorry we stressed you Kevin, and I again thank you for having me and being able to find the place. The food and people were great. Some other shoutouts (in no particular order)

Phyrez - Thanks SO much for helping me with my Laptop. It runs so much better now, I can't even begin to explain. You are my savior *bows down*.
Audy/Tibs - You guys are funny. You guys are good people, even if Tibs is a butthead on the forums sometimes :)
Toon - You've always been a Wicked cool guy, and you and I together were funny as hell making fun of the pr0n.
Milph - You are WILD dude! I heard you were though :)
Bluesix - Was nice to finally meet you man, I know we tried to several years back....but hey, better late than never!
Rope - You are a god of LAN parties. You brought the pimp server, and that sweet piece of ass....the Boston Butt that is....was tasty ;)
RyanRay - Your rig still scares me, and reminds me of a nuclear reactor computer shutdown sequence we have at command. You were the man with cooking the ribs, Butt, and your almighty pr0n collection. Even if I did have to see a Mare get fucked, and a pig fuck a woman. (That's no joke damnit!)
Buzz - Server god <3 You play Matrix style.
Hangover - Glad you came man :) Was nice to have met you and know that you're just as neurotic as I am when it comes to grammar in certain aspects. I think you win that battle though :( Don't forget your Grammar survey next date, mk? :)
Lexon - You're a good man. You're really quiet though. And would you quit jerking off so much so you can get better at the Wii games? :(
Shootza - Thanks for bringing the Wii, was good times. I'll be buying one shortly for my girlfriend's little brother now that I know it's safe (He's autistic, had nightmares of him throwing the remotes.) Lexon > You though at Mario Party :(
Kuhz - Didn't really get to know you, but from what I saw....good man. Was weird to wake up at like 8am and see you being the only one watching massive amounts of porn though, hehe.
SurfingTerd - You didn't share the program with the computer pron! You're a good guy though. You remind me of a surfing Buddhist though, all relaxed. It's kinda....weird.
ElPres/Dsnutz - you guys didn't stay around long enough! WTF! You guys got really wasted, and drove home. That wasn't good :( I would have driven you guys with someone behind me ffs....Just ask. Don't feel like you're obligating someone. I'm pretty sure we'd all rather be pissed off we're missing part of a LAN than have two guys get thrown in the Drunk Tank, or get a DUI, or crash into a tree (Which I saw on the way home from the LAN).

Again, sorry I couldn't stay and help clean. Fucking AWOL laws :(

I did my best to keep clean, took some funny videos which I shall post sooner or later and some pics. I was actually talking to Danny and Rob (Yeah I'm trying to get the names down) to see if I can pull off a lan in the near future here in Miami as I have plenty of friends with big houses  and I think would be willing to let me throw them as to the level of cooperation I've seen in the past 4 or 5 lans I've been to from you guys, that's why I keep going to them...in other words, it's time to chip in. As far as servers and switches and what-not I have no clue how to set those up, so I would need your help guys, then again that's what WickedNET lans are all about. Good Night and Good Fight.

I knew this was coming, honestly I don't even know how the LAN made it past Fri night. I seriously thought it was going to be shutdown while we slept and we'd be driving back Sat morning. Having 20+ people getting drunk and having fun over a weekend just doesn't mix well with the professionalism we're supposed to maintain on your behalf. Last year I though Brian was insane to have a LAN at a house like that, but I guess he has the money to fix anything that could go wrong. Thanks for the last 2 years, it's been awesome.

First rule of business...

1) Never mix business with pleasure

...In this case pleasure=LAN. I would say if you do ever host a LAN again, do not associate any aspect of your business with it. It has the potential to make you look unprofessional, cost lot of money, liable for accidents, and could land you in legal trouble.

I can't believe I just said all of that gay shit but it's true. I must be getting older. Regardless, it was good seeing all of you Miami folks again! Sorry I didn't stay but I was getting a headache from the bbq smoke. Cheers!

Yea mixing both its touchy

like in hangs case he owned the place and there really wasnt much around during the weekend so no one to really bother by being drunk etc

Even me i have more than enough room in my place to throw a kick ass lan in miami again but its just to risky im in a very poppulated area and there is always a ton of people around on the weekend so yea i have the capabilties but not sure it would be a smart idea Buisness wise to do it cause it could get me kicked out of my place lol

IM still surpsied to hear there were any issues though, weve been drunk before and and acted realy stupid also before but i cant really reemember any of the lan locations taking dmg or being worse than when we left

if anything most of the places we lanned we left it in better condition than when we got it with atleast the ones i was involved in throwing down here with hang and buzz, and i think GW usally left his place better than when he got it . Was funny we left those first warehouses down in here in miami WAAAAAY better than we got it, I usally had the places rewired so it could handle the power loads lol, we even rewired hangs place that first year

Kinda of sad to hear this one took a turn for the worse,, see what happens when i dont goto the lan shit goes down hill =P
