Insurgency Mod

Postby Cane on Wed Jul 11, 2007 1:58 am

There's a new mod coming out for the HL2:Source engine. You just need any game that has the source engine, HL2, CS:S, DOD:S.

It's basically more modernized combat than CS:S, and it's more military based than CTU based. You gain ranks like ET, you have the mods that any military would, etc. It's very intense, and I reccomend any of you that liked CS to any degree to download and try this.

It's SO fucking realistic that when a Terrorist ambushed me I had a flashback of Iraq. That's fucking nuts!

It kinda is slow, but you have to sprint yourself like in ET and there's a lack of a HUD, which makes it a bit more lifelike...

Remember, it's still BETA, anything is bound to happen.

The CS:S server I play on just opened up a server in which I have admin powers too. If you're interested at all, the ip is this:

64.92.163.13:27015

My favorite map so far is INS_Baghdad! SOOOO real!

i played it again a little bit today. i really like it. i just need to figure out how to read all the display shit and actually learn how to play to objective. all i do now is run around killing people.

The two swords symbols mean that's your next securing point. You need to get there, and secure it.

The shield means that's an objective you've secured, and people are nearby so you need to defend it.

The Captain insignia means that's your commander. If you're commander, you can direct your troops where to go by hitting G and scrolling down to waypoint/attack objective alpha/bravo/charlie/etc. You can also deploy emergency troops, so use those sparingly.

Everything else has it's utility that's pretty obvious. Marksman, Rifleman, Grenadier etc. Engineer you just get more nades, and have a shotgun (as they really do in Iraq.)

Did that help you at all?

i just don't see why they don't give you a map. that seems a little stupid. how the fuck are you supposed to know which way to go?

It's the realism of the game. In real life, you get a view of a map before you go in specifying the target areas and which perimeters you need to secure. That's that. The only time you really get a map is if you go out in natural environments. Not urban. Soo...

i just tried this game today and i must say it really pwns. the graphics look sweet and the gameplay is awesome when u have a good team to play with. there still is a lot of things they need to fix but overall the mod rocks. we need a wicked ins server now, might as well convert the css server to that since i barely see anyone it anymore. :P

Hang, I've been to both Afghanistan and Iraq. The only time anyone pulls out a map is when you're lost or you're 250% sure there isn't any insurgents nearby. And when you're that close like you are in the game, you won't.

Think Black Hawk Down. How often did you see those guys pull out maps?
